Day 1: Marrakesh – Ait Ben Haddou – Skoura – Kelaa M’Gouna – Dades & Todra Gorges
The three-day desert tour starts with breakfast, and afterwards departure to the south of Morocco. You will be able to witness the true fortunes of the high Atlas Mountains, which separates the Mediterranean and Atlantic coastlines from the Sahara Desert. The countless villages and colorful sights are one of the most exquisite landscapes of this mountain range. However, when you reach the highest point of 2060 meters, you will change the direction and you will take off to the Ounila Valley. It is located near Ait-Ben-Haddou and is definitely one of the Morocco’s hidden destinations. The Valley is hemmed in by imposing sandstone cliffs and barren hillsides and is peppered with typical pise-constructed dwellings and crumbling kasbahs.
The Ounila Valley it is a perfect place to get an insight about fossils and fauna with its unique landscapes of green and red contrasts with vibrant colors, which are most outstanding in spring! Continuing to the best-preserved Kasbahs of Morocco, you will be able to visit the famous place where many movies very filmed, and not to mention the Kasbah of Ait-Ben-Haddou (dating from the 11th century). After lunch, you will be visiting Skoura – a place with the most beautiful oases and the worth-seeing Kasbah called Amredyle. The next stop includes Kelaa M’Gouna, a city in Tinghir Province, Dra-Tafilalt, Morocco where the famous “Festival des Roses” takes place every May from each year. Continuing with your trip, just right when the off-road finishes and the asphalt begin you’ll see Ait Youl Kasbah and the green valley of Dades. The last destination of the first day is the Todra Gorge and once you reach it, you will be able to enjoy the rest of the night, appreciate the quietness of the mountains, get to know the culture of the nomads etc.
Day 2: Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga
The second day includes a travel to Merzouga with by the way stopping to Erfoud and Rissani. Due to its proximity to Merzouga desert village in the Erg Chebbi Dunes, Erfoud has become one of the most required destinations for tourists. This oasis town is famous for its fossil mines and the making of a lot of movies. Filmmakers choose Erfoud because of the beauty of the surrounding Sahara Desert and the town’s oasis areas. The last stop is Rissani, the capital of the Tafilalte area, and the day ends in the heart of the desert. Here, you are able to stargaze all night long, you can ride a camel and even sleep in a nomad’s tent.
Day 3: Merzouga – Tazzarine – Agdz – Marrakesh
The last day of this trip is a departure back to Marrakesh. However, there are a few stops on the way. The first thing you will visit is a town in Zagora Province, Tazzarine featuring desertic wild landscape, with plenty of Acacia trees and mountains. Afterwards, you travel through the beautiful Draa valley with its millions of palm grove, keep your eyes open for the Berber villages and the magnificent Kasbahs. The lunch is in Ouarzazate, and you will finish your trip in Marrakesh.
